about anodizing titanium
Anodizing Titanium
Anodizing titanium is an electrolytic passivation process that adjusts the oxide level of the titanium surface. Like butterflies in nature our anodized titanium straws don't use pigments or dyes. Butterflies rely on a microscopic structural pattern on their wings to refract light, absorbing many wavelengths of light and leaving behind those most evolutionary desirable.
With our electrical process of anodizing, we adjust the oxide level of the titanium surface, producing the colors through changes to the spectrum of light reflected. The anodized titanium forms colorful crystalline structures on the surface, resulting in vibrant and rich colors. By precisely controlling the surface oxide level, with our voltage adjustments an entire range of colors can be produced. Anodized titanium is not a coating, nor does it use dyes.
